The center in ice hockey is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is the middle of the ice, away from the sideboards. Centers have more flexibility in their positioning and therefore often end up covering more ice surface than any other player.
In ice hockey, wingers are forwards who play on the left or right side of the ice. They are responsible for scoring goals and supporting the center player. Wingers also play defense when needed.
In ice hockey, the defensemen are positioned behind the forwards and close to the team's net. Their main job is to stop the other team from scoring.
In hockey, the goalie plays in front of the net, in the goal crease, and is the last line of defense. The goalie's main job is to stop the puck from entering the net.
